Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health Chapter in the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine   St. George's University, Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine on 28th February, 2012 was accepted to host a chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.  The official name of the DPHPM chapter is Gamma Kappa ( and joins a distinguished list of over 70 chapters which first began in 1924 at John's Hopkins University School of Public Health.  


The Gamma Kappa chapter will continue the work of the DPHPM in promoting research and scholarship among graduate students of public health and to recognize attainment and achievement in the field of public health.  The chapter and its members will be dedicated to ensuring the quality of the field of public health and to the protection and advancement of the health of all people.  Membership in Delta Omega provides valuable benefits for members throughout their professional lives.  Members can take advantage of the Society's benefits which include discounts on publications & professional memberships, networking opportunities with global public health leaders and leadership development activities for chapters. 


In addition, Gamma Kappa annual activities will include:

  • Host and organize an annual Delta Omega lecture for students
  • Sponsor an awards dinner Address new students at orientation about the society and your chapter's requirements
  • Coordinate a mentor-ship program Induct honorary members to recognize contributions of local community members
  • Support community based public health programs
